State emergency and recovery support – Victoria

Victorian PHNs assist the Victorian Government to coordinate primary health aspects of its emergency management response.

This is set out in the State Emergency Management Plan – Health Emergencies Sub-Plan.

Each PHN compiles, maintains and updates a register of primary care providers able to assist in the event of an emergency.

Victorian PHN activities include:

  • participating in local, regional and health service emergency planning
  • consolidating across-the-board planning and responses, based on a shared calendar, education and training
  • facilitating access to and communicating with primary care providers
  • providing intelligence on local factors affecting the delivery of primary health care in impacted areas
  • working collaboratively in the provision of recovery services following an emergency.

This project is supported by the Victorian Government.
